Made for the drink

The three-piece ceramicware set is designed to elevate the experience of Khum-Hom, Thingamajiggy's signature drink.

The drink itself is a two-part experience. It is composed of an iced dirty coffee made with a medium roast, stacked over a lighter-roast espresso, creating a sensory journey through temperature, texture, and flavor.

Defining an experience

The drink was so memorable, I thought it needed its own signature cup set.

Optimized for the best flavor experience

The set includes a double-wall insulated cup, a tea cup, and a saucer, all crafted to complement a layered coffee ritual that highlights the contrast between two distinct roasts.

Grounded experience

The cups are glazed on the inside and left raw on the outside. This contrast in matte and smooth finish echoes the drink's contrasting experience.

Design Process

Research, inspo, sketches, prototypes, final build process, and a reflection on the final outcome.

Design Inspiration

Inspired by the minimalist designs of Danese Milano and their eccentric presentation style.

Untitled_Artwork 1.jpg

The earliest concept

Inspired by the drinks unique experience, I sought to create a ceramic set that could match it.

Thai inspiration

I was looking everywhere in Thailand for the right inspiration for the form. Until I realized I should connect the form of the cermic set to the architecture of the Thingamajiggy cafe.

Mold making

I created the form, the molds, and the master molds using Solidworks.

Making the molds work

Theoretically, the molds should work as shown in the CAD. However, it was pretty challenging to make molds work to my satisfaction.
